At paintbox, every offering begins with a simple belief:
real creativity is nurtured in a working studio, through guidance, exploration, and disciplined play.
Whether through painting, music, drumming, face art, or collaborative projects, our programs are led by practising artists and musicians who teach from real experience, not theory alone.
We prioritise curiosity, skill, wonder and authentic expression over performance or perfection.
Every session invites you to slow down, connect, and create something real.

Our Artist-Led Studio Experiences

We offer a selection of studio-based creative experiences that can be tailored for individuals, small groups, schools, events, and organisations. Each experience is artist-led, practice-based, and designed to foster genuine creative confidence.

Weekly Art Lessons

Tuesday class, aged 6 to 8

A studio-based art journey for children (ages 6 – high school) and adults.
Lessons blend drawing, painting, and mixed media (watercolour, gouache, acrylics, oil pastels, charcoal, ink, graphite) with an emphasis on creative discipline, skill-building and personal expression.
Each term explores a theme or movement: from surrealism and impressionism to international art, contemporary portraiture, and expressive illustration.

A place to develop foundations, explore new techniques, and grow at your own pace, within a supportive studio culture.

Group Guitar and Ukulele Lessons

Perfect for beginners and early intermediate players (children).
Instruments are provided, class sizes are kept small, and lessons focus on rhythm, chord progression, and making music that feels authentic and playable.
Led by self-taught artist and musician, Donovan Tawse, this program teaches more than notes; it builds confidence, timing, performance awareness, and the joy of playing with others.

Learn by doing. Learn by listening. Learn by playing together.

Corporate, Private & Community Creative Events

2024 Youth Week Art Battle, REAP, Karratha

Art, music, and collaborative projects designed for schools, community festivals, team-building, youth programs, and private gatherings.
These experiences can include guided painting, group drumming, collaborative mural design, mixed-media workshops, or a tailored creative immersion.
We have facilitated events for Rio Tinto, Yara, Youth Week, FeNaClNG, Australia Day, and school-based programs across Karratha and the Pilbara.

Creativity makes space for connection, reflection, and collective expression — and that is where community begins.

Community Drumming Circles

Drumming for connection, rhythm, mindfulness, and shared energy.
Participants play a range of percussion instruments (djembe, darbuka, mini dun-duns), learning rhythm through guided call-and-response, layering, and intuitive group beats.
Beautiful for well-being programs, festivals, schools, staff retreats, youth events, and community groups.

Discover the meditative heartbeat of percussion, where rhythm becomes conversation.

Avant-garde Face Painting

The face is a canvas

Fine art face-painting and expressive face art, led by an artist and supported by trained junior face painters.
More than party paint, this offering brings painterly detail, movement, texture, metallic accents, and creative concept into wearable art.
Invigorates festivals, parades, school events, community celebrations, and creative events.

Art made visible and worn boldly.

Community Graffiti Wall

Graffiti Wall, 2024 Youth Week, REAP Karratha

A collaborative mural experience designed for teams, festivals, schools, and community events.
Participants contribute through design, sketching, colour work, and expressive mark-making to build a shared artwork that remains as a visual record of community creativity.

A wall becomes a canvas. A crowd becomes a studio. A place remembers its creators.

DIY Face Painting Stations

2024 Youth Week, The Base, Wickham

Fully equipped face-art stations for events, birthday gatherings, fairs, vacation care, or festivals.
Includes materials, palettes, stencils, mirrors, cosmetic-grade brushes and pens.

Participants create their own style; quietly, boldly, or playfully.
A creative corner where imagination becomes wearable art.

Easy Origami & Paper Craft

Origami butterflies, 2024 Youth Week, REAP Karratha

Gentle, mindful and tactile. Perfect for calm corners at festivals, wellness programs, small-group workshops, and intimate gatherings.
